Scrolling through Twitter, you’ve probably noticed a small number of tweets you couldn’t view because Twitter had marked them as “potentially sensitive content.”

You’ve seen this message because Twitter has something called media settings that help Twitter to understand the type of media you are sharing. When sensitive Twitter content is shared, Twitter will immediately take steps to limit this content from being viewed by users who have not consented to view sensitive content on Twitter.

What is “Sensitive Content” on Twitter?

Sensitive content on Twitter includes any posts that feature violent content, hateful content or adult content. Any Twitter content that users could find distressing or offensive will require users’ consent before they can view it. By default, Twitter restricts access to sensitive content, and you have to opt-in to view it.

How To Turn Off Sensitive Content on Twitter

Complete the following steps to turn off Twitter sensitive content settings via the internet.

STEP 1

Firstly, log in to your Twitter account at twitter.com.

STEP 2

Once in your account, click on the More icon on the left side of the screen. This is represented by three dots in a circle.

STEP 3

Next, you need to select Settings and privacy from the drop-down menu.

STEP 4

Go to your Privacy and safety settings.

STEP 5

Select Content you see.

STEP 6

Slide the toggle under Display media that may contain sensitive content to the left to enable this option.

STEP 7

You can take the additional step of selecting Search settings from the Content you see section and unticking Hide sensitive content. This allows Twitter sensitive content to appear in your search results.


How To Turn Off Sensitive Content on Twitter on App

Complete the following steps to turn off sensitive content on Twitter from the Twitter app.

STEP 1

Open the Twitter app and select your Twitter profile image from the top left of the screen.

STEP 2

Go to Settings & Support.

STEP 3

Select Settings and privacy.

STEP 5

You’ll need to choose Privacy and safety.

STEP 6

From the list of options, select Content you see, then slide the toggle next to Display media that may contain sensitive content to enable this option.

STEP 7

You can also take the additional step of selecting Search settings from the Content you see section and unselecting Hide sensitive content.
